Falcon Center (ELO)
Expanded Learning Opportunities Fawcett Elementary School
Expanded Learning Centers are your child’s opportunity to plug into a variety of before, during and after school academic and enrichment activities, such as sports, the arts, STEM, and mentorship. These centers are a collaboration of youth-serving community partners in Tacoma, powered by Tacoma Whole Child Partnership. Together we are dedicated to the social, emotional, and academic success of your child. We aim to encourage, support, and challenge while having fun!
Attendance, Late Arrival and Early Dismissal Procedures
At Fawcett, your child's attendance matters! If your child is going to be absent from school, please call our attendance line at 253.571.4737 by 8:30 AM.
If your child is coming to school late, please park your car in a designated parking spot and walk your child to the front door. We will greet you at the front door, ensure your health survey is complete, and then get your child to their classroom quickly.
If you need to pick up your child from school early, please call in advance so that we can plan for their early dismissal. 253.571.4737. We will let your child's teacher know so that your student can get any important paperwork before they need to leave. Again, please park your car in a designated parking spot and come to the front door. If you've called in advance, we will likely have your child ready for you at the door!
Family App (Daily COVID Health Survey)
The Daily Covid Survey is REQUIRED to be completed each day that your child will be attending school in-person.
For our Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students, this means the survey must be completed by 9 AM every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
For 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students, the survey must be completed by 9 AM on your Cohort days: Either Monday & Tuesday, or Thursday & Friday.
Please know, your child will not be permitted to go to their classroom until the survey is completed. We have to verify every student's survey status as they enter the building, and look specifically for those students whose parents have not yet completed it. This is really slowing down the entry process for getting the students into the building. PLEASE, set an alarm on your phone for 9 AM every morning your child will be at school and get the survey completed. It is quick and easy to do each day.

Laptops
Tacoma is now a 1:1 technology district! Fawcett has laptops for every student enrolled at Fawcett and/or Tacoma Online. If you have yet to pick up a laptop, please let us know and we will be happy to get you one.
At this time, families should refer to instruction from their child's teacher as to when to bring laptops to and from school. When you do bring your laptop to school, please make sure it is marked with your child's name (please use painter's tape and write your student's name on the tape), and fully charged. A full charge will be plenty to get your child through the school day.
